Glad to see this gym going in a good direction again!.
I have been a member of this gym for three years and was a former member of planet fitness. For the past the past year, the customer service had dwindled down to nothing and it seem like all they were after was money. About a month ago the manager at the time left and a new manager, Derek, is here that seems to be more about the customer than the money. The environment is back to what is used to be, the staff is nicer, and place is a little bit cleaner than it used to be as well. I know a lot of people left within that time because they were so dissatisfied with how they were being treated and being cheated out of their money.
I was so close to leaving this place but the direction that Derek is taking the gym made me change my mind for the better and I hope that many people who left will give this gym a second chance. Many of my friends are returning and I hope others do the same.
Best Gym in Mobile. I love the gym and the entire staff is great! They are very helpful and are always available to answer any questions I do have. The gym is very large and there is plenty of equipment to get a hold of especially during the times of 5pm - 7pm when the after work crowd is there. I have been to many gyms before but the environment is so great here, I will be staying here for a while.
Nothing worse than a thief.....
Scumbags, the lot of them.
Omni and National Fitness are all the same company with different names. The owner Johnathan is in business with the dirtbags at National Fitness, his business partner owns National Fitness.
Don't believe for a second that they aren't tied together. After we canceled, and sent them our documentation that we had moved, they first tried to say that a utility bill wasn't proof enough of a move. Finally got a letter from them declaring the account closed, and that they would issue a credit for the last charge. They then tried to charge me an additional four times, in addition to not issuing the credit that they promised. It wasn't an error, as they actually charged me more than the monthly amount....
I'll post again as I am currently having my bank reverse the charges and let you know what Johnathan has to say.
My advice is to not deal with them. Don't bother signing a contract -- they don't honor their commitments, so why enter into an agreement with them?
Little reading at rip-off report ...
You can't post a link here, but if you search for National Fitness at rip-off report.
My name is Derek Barefoot, I am the new operating partner at Omni Health and Fitness. Johnathon is no longer an owner at this gym. I would like to work with you to resolve your issue if it is still on going. We now try to handle all customer service issues in house and get problems resolved ASAP. Please feel free to contact me at the gym any time. Derek Barefoot
Will take your money!!. They will get you sign a contract and automatically renew it. When you try to cancel, Omni will not help you. They will tell you to write a letter to National Fitness in Layton, UT. National Fitness will then tell you that no letter was received and continue to bill you. I signed a two-year contract and moved before the contract ended. With no successful attempts to cancel, I paid the remainder of my contract. Then I was told that my contract was automatically renewed. DO NOT SIGN A CONTRACT WITH THIS GYM!!!
My name is Derek Barefoot, I am the new operating partner here at Omni Fitness. I am sorry for the problems you had with you auto renew. The auto renew is suppose to be used to help people retain a lower membership rate, so that when rates increase the member is not affected. Nor would they have to resign on a new agreement with another processing fee since the auto renew is month to month. I am sorry again for the problems you had. Derek
DO NOT TRUST THIS GYM!!!!!. I signed a contract with Omni in Mobile, AL. I was told several times that if I needed to relocate to let them know. I did, then I was told they no longer deal with membership cancellation and to contact National Fitness by letter. I did, only to later find out that my letter was not received. I paid the remainder of my contract. Then, I found out that my membership was automatically renewed. Once again, the only way to cancel is to contact National Fitness by mail. DO NOT TRUST THIS GYM. FIND ANOTHER ONE. IF YOU STILL DECIDE TO JOIN, DO NOT SIGN A CONTRACT. THEY WILL NOT LET YOU OUT OF IT. THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY!!!
Dear former member,
My name is Derek Barefoot, I am the new operating partner at Omni Fitness. I would like to apologize for the problems you had with your cancellation. We try to handle all issues in house now to avoid situations like this from happening again. If you ever visit Mobile in the future please stop by and I will let you work out free while you are in town. If you happen to move back to the area, I would like to extend to you a free 6 month membership. Derek Barefoot
Poor Billing Service. Although the facilities are clean and well-maintained, the billing service is terrible. They will sneak in plenty of extra charges and automatically renew you if you don't cancel and get that cancellation confirmed in writing. Be careful with these guys...
