Balance TrainingSense of balance or the ability to know where your body parts are in 3-dimensional space, is required for every movement we make. This complex system needs plenty of regular ‘practice’. As children we develop good balance by practicing balancing activities – walking along walls, jumping, spinning & climbing. As adults we tend not to give our balance system the practice it needs. Health problems can also weaken the balance system. At personal edge fitness we can train you to improve the proprioception within the muscles, just by creating a program that will keep your balance system challenged & healthy!
Core TrainingCore stability training is essential to sports performance & injury prevention. The body’s core muscles are the foundation for all other movement. The muscles of the torso stabilize the spine & provide a solid foundation for movement in the extremities. Training the muscles of the core corrects postural imbalances that can lead to injuries. Personal edge fitness trainers will design your program to strengthen not just the abdominals but all 29 muscles that attach to the lumbar-pelvic-hip complex (lphc), the thoracic spine, & the cervical spine. Core training is an ideal solution to bad posture, weak abs & low back pain.
Functional TrainingFunctional training has its origins in rehabilitation. Physical therapists developed exercises that mimicked what patients did at home or work in order to return to their lives or jobs after an injury or surgery. Our trainers use similar techniques to assist clients in performing daily activities, like climbing stairs, lifting groceries, & picking up children, more easily. For athletes functional training is a must. Personal edge fitness trainers know how to adapt a sport specific training program for any athlete by using a wide variety of fitness equipment to replicate the same physical demands & challenges on the field. Functional training involves mainly weight bearing activities targeted at core muscles of the abdomen & lower back which may lead to better muscular balance & joint stability, preventing the number of injuries.
Home TrainingHome trainingnot enough time to come to us? Then we come to you. You can work out on your lunch hour, or at any time of day that works for you. When you work out at home or in your office, you don’t have to compete w/ anyone, dress up for anyone, or work out to impress anyone. Having a trainer work w/ you can teach you how to properly use the equipment you have, motivate you (when you have the time & resources & just don’t do it anyway) & give you ideas of things you can use—right in your home—to improve your fitness & health. Our personal trainers have years of experience in a variety of fitness settings & have had the opportunity to work w/ hundreds of clients. We are able to adapt your fitness program to work in any home setting & can even help design & equip your own home gym!
