My name is Celeste McClure, I work at the Bakery Cafe as a Bartender/Night Manager. I am responding to the article "Horrible, Horrible" only to guide readers to the truth......the Bakery Cafe is a wonderful restaurant. With any restaurant you may have items you may not like or an issue with service, but this is our job to correct the situation. This particular evening was neither. The Bakery Cafe thrives on southern hospitality. We have wonderful food, and people who take pride in service, also the rules. We particularly enjoy our jobs and choose to keep them. Whatever the young lady's issue is I say this.....We have the right to refuse service to anyone BUT we would only do so when it would possibly hurt the restaurant to serve you. I am very sorry for whatever trouble this has caused but I can assure you, it was for the restaurants and your own good.

This place makes you feel so welcome and at home. Great bar. really nice bartenders. Great food and atmosphere. It's one of my all time favorite places. I even have a favorite seat!

I Just Love The Bakery Cafe

Great place to stop after Opera, Symphony or Ballet, near Galleries. Liked the outdoor seating. Food is great! The Duck Salad is my FAV!

Horrible, horrible.

I wish I could say something about the food, but I didn't even have a chance to eat. After sitting down with my friends, we each ordered a glass of wine. My legitimate Louisiana ID was rejected (Louisiana issues a sticker after the ID expires with a new expiration date). I understand this is not how it is done in Alabama, but at a "nice" restaurant I would expect at least a check in a book before rejecting someone.

However, it was not the fact that I couldn't have a glass of wine that made this experience so awful. I truly believe McDonald's workers could have handled the situation with more grace than the hostess, Celeste McClure. Ms. McClure spoke down to me with an incredibly nasty attitude and insisted my ID was fake. I'm a 25 year old attorney- using a fake ID is about the last thing on my agenda.

I will never go back, and neither will any of my friends. Don't waste your time. We went to the Bicycle Shop where we had great food and incredible service.

Most Wonderful Food-Great Chef

I was totally blown away and the incredible food, the name threw me. Great atmosphere, candles, linens, try the wine, romantic, anything on the menu is recommended.

Best food and ambiance, GREAT DATE place

Absolutely the best food and ambiance we have had in Mobile. Very low light "old warehouse" feel. Price was high but the food was well worth it. Everything we had was excellent. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, as must try.
